Klyks Klees particle creations in our exhibition hall

Klyks Klees' particle creations in our exhibition hall

Meta Makeover is filming today in the Meta Makeover studios on Northpoint – and we’d love to see you there!

Have you ever looked at a cup of coffee steaming in Second Life – and wondered how it was done?  Or gazed into the depth of a smouldering fire, and wondered how it was created?  Have you ever looked at a fountain or a waterfall and thought, “Oh, that’s beautiful!  How did they do that?”

Well, today Meta Makeover, with the help of renowned particle designer Klyks Klees of Basic Elements will be answering your questions!

Join us at 2pm SLT in the studio as Klyks explains the physics behind particle creation – and shows us a variety of wonderful effects, some of which you’ll be able to try at home for yourselves.  And don’t miss the fantastic display of different effects that Klyks has set up in our Exhibition Hall!

Romance in Second Life

Romance in Second Life

What’s the most romantic place in Second Life? Meta Makeover really wants to know!

For our special show on February 10th, in honour of Valentine’s Day, we want to feature the most romantic place in Second Life!

How will we find it?  Well, we’re asking for your help!

We have set up a survey so that you can vote for your most romantic place.  This asks you for the name and the slurl of the place that you choose as the most romantic in Second Life.

In addition, you can state WHY you think your choice deserves to win.  We will award a prize to the avatar who supplies what our team believe to be the best answer (which could be the most romantic, the most poignant or, indeed, the funniest).

The survey will run until 1st February. So … get voting – and you could see your favourite romantic location on Meta Makeover!

Inside Cora's Skybox: Upper floor

In this week’s show we made over a skybox for Cora Heslop, who has a rather unusual avatar – a rather beautiful white cat.

Cora explains some of the special requirements of a quadruped with a sense of style and fun, and our designer, Pamela Galli of La Galleria, rose brilliantly to the challenge – as you’ll be able to see!

And Cora was very hospitable to her guests too; you’ll be able to see the rather unusual lunch that she laid on for us all!

What was Saffia wearing on the show?

Saffia in Margaretha

Saffia in Margaretha

For this show, Saffia wore a new design from IvaldeMargaretha. Margaretha is a two-piece ensemble whose softly-textured, v-necked top has gentle folds across the bust, a  fitted torso and a sculpted peplum bottom and a jeweled chain clasp at the throat. The fitted pencil skirt features slimming seams along the outer leg and a delicate ruffled hem.

“I love this thirties look with the peplum at the waist,” Saffia says,  “and the blouse is a gorgeous silky material!  I also like the way the skirt is saved from being ultra plain by the little ruffle.  I have all the colours too – expect to see more!”

The name of the outfit made Saffia smile.  “I don’t know if anyone other than me picked up a link between Margarethea and Norway and a rather famous science fiction series!” she says.

Well, do you know the connection?

Chiron Tower on Sagittaria with the Galaxy behind

The latest episode of Meta Makeover is now available on the Meta Makeover website at SLCN – and can also be downloaded free of charge from iTunes.

We started the news series in Sagittaria.  Saffia met Bill Stirling, owner of Sagittaria and creator of the beautiful Galaxy, the stunning three-sim long cruise liner, to talk with him about changes he has made to the estate and the Galaxy.

You’ll be able to see the changes that have been made to the wedding chapel on the ship, hear about a rather new accommodation build – and meet up with an old friend – Satu, the sushi chef on the Galaxy!

What was Saffia wearing on the show?
For this show, Saffia wore an old design from Ivalde – Kaja.

“This is a favourite for me,” she says.  “In fact – I wore it in black for our Galaxy show last year.  It goes all the way back till when the Galaxy was being built – I bought the fat pack then to wear on board!”
