Detail of the living room at Cheswick

Detail of the living room at Cheswick

Meta Makeover is filming today – Wednesday 30th July at 2pm at the SLCN studios in Northpoint – and everyone is welcome.

However, don’t look for the show on your SLCN TV tonight – this show will be broadcast later in the week (and we’ll be giving you the times later.

This week we’re visiting a really interesting Victorian house in Cheswick Village.

Bracken Back and Samaria Arai have run Cheswick Village for some time, offering spacious and elegant Tudor rentals located in a lush country setting.

Their houses have frequently been custom made, but now they are looking to create a new area – with Victorian custom-made homes. These are unusual because, while many builders choose to build on level sky platforms, and then lower the homes onto flat land, Bracken has built in situ, allowing the contours of the land to shape his houses, with interesting results.

We asked Soleil Snook of Snook’s Garden Centre to landscape the house, and Jeannie Moonflower of Bygone Days to furnish the inside. Join us to see how they worked with this lovely and unusual house – and how Jeannie created wonderful stories around the house, and a thriving business to be located in the basement!

The show starts at 2pm SLT, but you should be there by 1.45pm to make sure of getting a seat.

We’ll see you there!

Saffia in Dorothea

Saffia in Dorothea

In today’s show, Saffia is wearing Dorotea by Ivalde in blue, for her exploration of the house in Cheswick Village, and the gorgeous new striped dress Lill in black and white, with a red belt.

“For this show, with a beautiful Victorian house and garden to explore, I wanted something that would suit the style and mood,” explains Saffia. “And I knew that bothe Jeannie and Soleil would be beautifully turned out in Voctorian style – although Soleil did threaten to wear overalls and Wellington boots!

“Dorothea, though, is a lovely and stylish Victorian gown. It’s actually been in my wardrobe for a while; I love the formality of it, and the way the coat sweeps back to reveal the skirt beneath.

“As for the studio outfit, once I saw the new Lill dress, I thought it would be perfect. Crisp and smart, with a stylish top (I love the prim flare at the waist) and a crisp white skirt, perfect for being business-like in the studio and cool at the same time!”

Our studio in the courtyard cafe at our SL5B build! Our Meta Makeover from SL5 B is now available on the web, and from the iTunes store. And this was Meta Makeover with a difference!

Instead of having a house to make over, this week we addressed the very serious issue of content theft. We spoke to top designers in their stores, and in the studio – and we gave news of a very important initiative from Linden Lab.

Our guests included Sue Stonebender of Serendipity Studios, Gwen Carillon of Elements in Design (and the Content Creators Association), Colleen Desmoulins of The Loft, Dirk Talamasca, Juris Amat and Neil Robinson.

And, what’s more, our show came from our SL5B build (built by Jeremey Ryan of Barefoot Homes & Designs, so you have a chance to see it in its glory before the SL5B celebration closed on July 7th.

Dellybean North of True North Designs, who designed our courtyard cafe, also built us a great portable studio for this event.

SLCN.TVs Studio for Relay for Life

SLCN.TV's Studio for Relay for Life

There’s still time to come to Relay for Life.  SLCN has been holding its twelve hour telethon – the first telethon held in a virtual world.  And now you can come down and see thirty-five spectacular builds, and a host of fun events.  For example, right by our studio, there’s bumper boats, courtesy of the Galaxy and  a wonderful Swan Boat ride that is very moving, created by the Spirit Chasers RfL team.

But that’s not all!  There is 35 Sim wide Scavenger Hunt that you can participate in. There is the Silent Auction Sim area where unique, often one of a kind, SL and REAL Life Items are available for viewing and bidding, with 100% of ALL  money going to the Relay For Life of Second Life.

Our you could spens a few hours lazing by the water in the  Fishing area where you can compete in fishing contests, or maybe a  leisurely Gondola boat ride and then explore an Italian Villa and wander into the forests to hear the Elven Music Circle in the Lower Water Sim area.

If you are feeling full of energy, there  is a Rodeo area where you can test your bull riding and barrel racing skills, purchase some great Western Gear (100% of ALLl money to the Relay For Life of SL),

Test your skills in the Official Relay Bow and Archery area where you can shoot at some targets.

There is even a scenic picture spot with pose balls if you feel like a quiet moment away from it all just behind the Silent Auction building.  Or you can head on up to one of the 4 Live Music Sims and boogie down in Shea Stadium, or rock out in New Orleans. Shimmy down in the Futuristic Sim or keep your toes tapping in a Robinson Crusoe theme inspired area.  It is hours of great live entertainment.

And there are some fantastic builds here.  We’re going to be looking at some of them in the next edition of Prim Perfect.  But my favourite is the SLCN studio.  If you look closely, you’ll see some resemblance to our wonderful SL5B build – and that’s not so surprising … when we relaised we only had a day to create it,  the magnificient team of Jeremey Ryan of Barefoot Homes & Designs and Dellybean North of True North Designs, while the interior was firnished by Maxwell Graf of Rustica and the gardens were landscaped by Anhayla Lycia of Treesong Designs.

The Relay continues till 10 am SLT on Sunday, and the builds will only be up for a very short spell so come down to heroes NOW!!!  Explore the sims – and make sure that you donate to join the fight back against cancer!

In today’s show, Saffia is wearing a variety of outifts by Ivalde.

“We filmed one shot several weeks ago when we were on Fire Island,” explains Saffia, “and so you’ll see me again in Aritha in red. When I talk to Colleen Desmoulins, I’m wearing Bjollok in steel blue. And for the studio part of the show – well, I’m still in love with Verun, so you’ll be seeing that, but in a new colour, a really rich purple.”

Saffia in Amma by IvaldeBut the outfit that has drawn a great many approving comments is the one Saffia wears for the segment filmed at Sue Stonebender’s Serendipity Studios.

“This is part of Ivalde’s new range,” says Saffia, “and hasn’t actually been released yet – but I’m sure it will be a huge hit when it is – because all my friends are already eager to buy it! It’s called Amma, and it’s a real summer outfit, with a gorgeous cheesecloth skirt, in vivid colours banded with black. And the detailing on the top is just lovely too!”

This is a very special day for Neferia Abel, the owner of Ivalde, as she’s opening her new sim today. And we happen to know there’s some terrific special freebies at her store today – so make sure you don’t miss them!

The made over studio for Tonight Live! Our last episode featured a rather an unusual makeover. For once we weren’t making over a Second life home – we’re making over a TV studio – and no, it wasn’t ours! We love our PRrim Designs set, made for us by Rrishanna Regina and Prad Prithivi, and wouldn’t swop for anything!

No, in this episode, we witnessed a super makeover for Paisley Beebe’s Tonight Live studio, and peeped behind the scenes there!

Paisley, hostess of one of the most popular shows on SLCN, had long felt that her studio was starting to look a little tired – and when she saw the makeover that The Loft gave Skate Foss’s home in our third episode, she know that she had found the perfect team to give her studio the facelift it needed!

And now you can see what happened here on the web when Bethany Heart and Colleen Desmoulins got to work!
